That time I help put on PoshFest and spoke on a panel.
Before I say “bye Felicia” to 2014, I wanted to share some of my favorite moments of the year, many not yet featured within Sparkle Meets Pop’s virtual pages. It’s tough, however, to capture a year in posts, pictures or songs. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of words: achievement, heart, bonds, goodbyes, growth, adventure and sass. Yes, friends, there’s always sass. People are known to get down on themselves and resolve to be better. I’m confident from my past that each day gets better, so I feel a mixture of hope, excitement and peace for the days to come.

For kicks, I thought I’d share my top five posts of 2014:

  1. Green Blue, High Low
  2. This Is 30
  3. Brunching With The Best
  4. #HowWeWear: Black & White
  5. Business Lion

But wait, there’s more. The SMP love fest continues with a year-ending playlist to share with you. Much of this is what I have been listening to for the past few months, but have yet to share. May these jams be a way to have a safe, healthy and happy New Year. Thank you so much for reading.

That time I shared a love of old movies with friends, and thought for a few seconds thought that maybe, just maybe that the Titanic wouldn’t sink and the movie would have a happy ending.

smp christmas tunes

Are your halls decked and presents wrapped? It’s about this time I try to focus on the Peace on Earth part of the season with a cup of cocoa and a favorite Christmas movie enjoyed in the glow of the Christmas tree. So I’m hoping to up the merriment factor with this week’s playlist. Nothing quite gets you in the spirit like some old classics combined with new favorites. (And yes, you’re likely at your max for Mariah’s popular Christmas song, but it just felt wrong to leave it out. The first few bars get me in the Christmas spirit like no other.)

Speaking of Christmas spirit, I had the chance to join my brother, sister-in-law and adorable nephews for a day of fun in Disneyland. There’s nothing quite like seeing the joy on little faces as they run around, go on rides and wave hello to their favorite characters.

monterey beach path

It’s been a while since I shared some of my latest IG snaps with you. Having escaped to Monterey to celebrate my girl being the hottest bride ever, I enjoyed a trek to Carmel to shop and sip, a meal at the highly recommended Restaurant 1833, and a run along the gorgeous California coast. My home state love story grew deeper, proving that I will always be a California girl – Beach Boys version, not Katy’s.

It’s pretty shocking that I have yet to share one of my favorite SF hangouts with you. My love for wine – on the personal and professional level – is pretty well documented in this digital space. This is a wine mecca tucked underneath the bustling streets of San Francisco. I’m always finding reasons to go back: to work my way through the wine list, to meet some girlfriends to gab and groove to the upbeat lounge tunes, to feel the stress melt off my shoulders while thinking “this is what heaven must be like.”

So if your idea of heaven includes snacking on some cheese and charcuterie while sipping a flight of unique wines, definitely give it a try. There’s a reason that it’s my go-to spot for a chill girl’s night. The music and the ambient underground glow keep the good vibes going without overpowering conversations. For smaller groups, you’re usually able to find a spot at the bar and a seating area if you’re in luck. They do take reservations, too, if you’re wanting to secure a spot.
