IN DA HOUSE: NURSERY

Mom, don’t get too excited – I have no announcement to make quite yet. It is in our plans, however, to have a nursery in our next home. Since this In Da House project is all about figuring out how to visually plan our home, nurseries are a natural fit. Yet, when it comes down to choosing favorite kitchens or living rooms, this task was a lot more challenging. A nursery has a lot of pressure with it — or is that just me being married for four years, sans adorable, mischievous spawn?

Part of me thinks that a nursery should be a pretty space that makes sense in your home’s overall style. Yet the other part of me thinks that you only have a baby to celebrate every so often, so have a little fun with it. My only firm request is to limit the use of cartoon characters and such.

Nurseries are so vast and varied, so it was at the same time hard to choose a photo and hard to narrow down the ones after I got on a roll. Here’s what I’m digging … at least for now. Also, Matt only likes the last one… so there may need to be another post like this before we get too far down to any kind of planning.

Big, bold patterns
Comfy chair and a statement pouf
Carefully controlled color — calming over chaotic
Art! Art! Art!
Soft textiles

Ohhhhh nurseries! Um, I have a secret pin board for this…lol. I’m a fan of the bold color them though. and birds of course. I like the pictures you showed though; the first picture is interesting! Very high fashion/victorian kind of theme!

A secret board is so smart! Collecting things here and there now makes the future planning so much easier. Makes sense to me!
