It turns out that the phrase pleather is a little polarizing. Everywhere it’s referred to as faux leather, so I’m now jumping on that bandwagon. Whatever you call it, I have officially transitioned my new favorite shorts into fall. On Sunday, Jillian and I trekked out to Palomino in San Francisco for Blog Brunch SF. Here is where I get to brag about wearing shorts in San Francisco. In October. Jealous?
Last time we saw me in these shorts was for a night of dancing and masquerading. For brunch, I traded my heels for some fun new booties and a casual tee with a breezy Portofino blouse. I have also appeared to have traded tan skin for a much paler shade – I guess the summer really is on its way out, no matter how much I protest.
So, tell me, have I convinced you yet that these pleather faux leather shorts are a versatile must for your wardrobe?
Some people wear their heart on their sleeve. Lately, I’m wearing my heart on my playlists. I usually find my songs throughout the week, being quick to save the ones that especially resonate at a particular moment. May these songs speak to you, too, and over this little blogland we can share a musical bond. Sound good?
In other fun news, the lovely Gilit of Shoes Off, Please nominated me for a Liebster award. (A blogger-to-blogger thing, where you share more about yourself and other bloggers.) And in case you didn’t get to know me enough before, now’s your chance for a double dipping good time. Answers below the jump.
Also, I’m trying out the Spotify player this time, instead of Grooveshark. Can you let me know which you prefer? Thanks!
Bloggers + swag bags + Leah of Freutcake + Leah’s mad skillz + you = FREUTCAMP! My gal pal Leah is spilling the beans of blog genius and she’s inviting 25 lucky people to learn from her wise ways and have a good time while doing it. The two-day blogging class will cover social media tips, monitization, working with sponsors and ad networks, finding a unique voice and fun Photoshop skills. It’s Sat-Sun, Oct. 26-27 in Los Angeles (specific location TBA). So hop on over to Freutcake to get more info and to meet the fabulous Leah.
Fun factoid: Leah and I finally met at Alt SF this year and, um, she’s basically the coolest. (Not-as-fun factoid: we never got a picture together. D’oh!) Totally friendly and down to earth, she’s also got a great sense of humor and style. I’ve long admired her branding and she is someone who really has the whole personal style thing down pat. Too bad she lives on the other half of the state, because I’m sure we’d hang out all the time. And I mean that in the least stalkery way possible. :)
So onto the dance-tastic, feel-good playlist that’s designed to get your weekend started right. In case you wondered, this playlist was tested by yours truly with a solo dance party in my living room. Tried and true, it is! Also, Beyonce’s “We Run the World” is an nod to Jasmine, who totally should have won So You Think You Can Dance. Like host Cat Deeley (my fave!), I totally want to be in the girly biker gang with Jasmine and Comfort.

One of the highlights this summer was attending Alt SF – a blogging conference for creative types. If you can’t tell from the above photo, I had a great time. :) (Although, note to self to stop standing like that. #notcute.) There were parties, networking, panel discussions and even a trip to Pinterest headquarters! Plus, with it being so local, I was able to hang out with my friends and meet some new ones. It was all very thrilling, but also very exhausting, which is why it’s taken me a little while to do a recap. I just couldn’t help but share some of the photos taken by the photographer to help me relive the fun. If you’re a blogger, I can’t recommend going to Alt enough!
That evening, we arrived to the newly finished Pinterest headquarters for an Alice in Pinterland party.
Here’s Ben Silbermann, co-founder and CEO of Pinterest. I was able to meet him that night, however, I’m pretty sure I scared him. Word was he was a little overwhelmed at being surrounded by us excited blogger gals. So I approached him and he was generally nice, but a little uncomfortable. So of course I went and said “Thanks for your website! I really love it! Now can you please give me my time back? Your website has seriously taken up days of my life.” At this point he looked at me, did a nervous laugh and walked away. So yeah. My bad.
