“I own too much black,” said no one ever.
By now, you’ve seen a lot of the Muubaa jacket, BCBGeneration booties, and even the High Vibe Living tee on the blog. It’s true, I repeat items a lot. What can you say? Sometimes you just can’t help but love what you love.
Get the Look:
Sometimes the best outfits are thrown together, as was the case with this one. I was in the mood to wear one of my favorite dresses, but a casual spring afternoon in the city didn’t really call for a strapless number. Why this outfit didn’t dawn on me before – because chambray goes with everything – will forever be a mystery. So often I make clothing purchases that do double duty: office appropriate that can also be suitable for off-the-clock hours. Yet, I think it’s time to expand my closet’s horizons beyond the “business casual” limits I had been imposing. Besides, there must be a reason why there’s “fun” in funky.
When I was first shopping for a military jacket, I was worried that I wouldn’t wear it very often. As it turns out, like the hot sauce commercial says, I put that
sh…tuff jacket on everything! Layering was the name of the game this day. Spending a November day in Carmel by the Sea meant going in and out of shops and being prepared for coastal breezes as well as the intermittent displays of sunshine. Thankfully it was a gorgeous morning with just a hint of fog so my booties-tights-dress-sweater-jacket combo was perfect. Funny how this dress was from one of those outdoor markets in Camden Town and was only £15. It has quickly become one of my favorite casual looks that is starting to replace my jeans-only weekend habit.

It turns out that the phrase pleather is a little polarizing. Everywhere it’s referred to as faux leather, so I’m now jumping on that bandwagon. Whatever you call it, I have officially transitioned my new favorite shorts into fall. On Sunday, Jillian and I trekked out to Palomino in San Francisco for Blog Brunch SF. Here is where I get to brag about wearing shorts in San Francisco. In October. Jealous?
Last time we saw me in these shorts was for a night of dancing and masquerading. For brunch, I traded my heels for some fun new booties and a casual tee with a breezy Portofino blouse. I have also appeared to have traded tan skin for a much paler shade – I guess the summer really is on its way out, no matter how much I protest.
So, tell me, have I convinced you yet that these
pleather faux leather shorts are a versatile must for your wardrobe?
